Saying good-bye to a Favourite Designer

Sniff sniff...I'm so sorry to see Studio Gypsy aka Lisa Hankins resigning. Even more sad is that health issues are behind it all. Double sniff....you can read about it here on her blog Gypsyland

And if you like her designs as much as I do....now is your chance to stock up at the Studio Gypsy Store

Big sniff......

Money Talks

Remember 'Forever in Blue Jeans' by Neil Diamond? (hmmm you're THAT old? LOL) I heard it on the radio again the other day and when I saw Lisa's new kit...it begged me to capture this line in print.

True the song line philosophy will 'drop' you in the long run...but still I think it's useful to help keep things in perspective...

Time To Refuel

I love it when he just pops in at home for a quick bite to eat :D

Refuel Station

I used the new Industrial Collab Bundle for the LO. With 3 men in the house, this is my kinda kit! ;-)

I seem so slow getting momentum with scrapping this year. There is just so many other things to do too, not the least of which is getting recipe cards made! better get on with it, right?

Week 50 - 2010

The second week of December is all done. I have to write myself a BIG reminder that I have a turkey to cook for tomorrow...I'm cruising along, scrapping and baking (fruit cake turned out great!) and seem oblivious to the fact that tomorrow is Christmas Eve. ACK!!!

Maybe I'll watch 'Nutcracker' tonight. That is bound to put me in the holiday feel!!!

So here is my Week 50 and the QP freebie is still available here

Last night I got this image in my inbox! Tanya was kind enough to share her LO using this QP with us. Thank you Tanya!!!

I'm off to go write myself a BIG note on the bathroom mirror so I don't forget to start cooking early tomorrow ;-)

Week 2 December 2010

It was so cool to find the last QP in a gallery this morning. I get such a kick out o actually seeing the QP's used. I have the strong suspicion that very few QP's downloaded are actually used in reality. I hope I am wrong. Thank you Marilynn, aka Scrappy Diva for posting this one :D

and here is the QP for the week to come.

Country Christmas is available at Studio Gypsy HERE . Winterland is not currently available.

Motorcycles Anyone?

I think this picture is quite a classic. It is in very bad shape, so to show it smaller is a good idea. Lisa's new kit 'The Gathering' worked so well for it : just rusty enough for an older photograph and manly enough to scrap these guys (father & son) ready to hit the road. I used a template by Studio True Blue too. Great templates!

Having Fun Yet?

I sure am....it isn't always that I get to play with templates like this. You know most of the time I make LO's with a place in an album to tell a story. Once in a while I love to make one, just because it's pretty. This was such an occasion...and I really like how it turned out. I'm enjoying using Jenn's templates. This one is from Blueprints #1 and everything else is from Studio Gypsy. Quite a list so go to the gallery HERE for links to the goodies. I seldom us only plain paper/ cardstock on a LO...and the verdict is still out on this one. I do think some damask print peeking out would be lovely. I'll sleep on it and see how it goes.
Also : I only scanned the picture and used as is, not adjustments, no fixes (see the tiny crease top right? That is a real one. I love this colour on it too, beautiful sepia.

ok I have a house to clean and more goodies to play with....catch you later!

I'm in a mood for Christmas

Early I know, but it happens every year. I think it is because by now I have a nice pile of gifts, really to bundle off to far away Christmas trees and a nice stash of gifts waiting to be wrapped hidden in a closet....the days are cooler and the wood fire i so cozy on a cold night. I'm compiling a list of Christmas themed movies in my collection (I do stretch it a bit to include anything snowy ;-) ) and am looking at gifts-in-a-jar ideas.

Yup I'm gearing up...only problem is that I often am 'over' Christmas, by the time it rolls around :D  Welcome to my wacky world.

But I digress! What I really wanted to show you was these two LO's I made this week. Studio True Blue (aka Jenn) opened it's doors today at ScrapbookGraphics and I got to play with some of her super duper templates, and naturally seeing as Christmas is all around me already...I made 2 Christmas LO's Soon I shall have 'finished' scrapping these pictures for my family....but I have at least one more 'set' to go...click on the LO title to go to the gallery for links to the products!

Goudini Christmas 1959 (Goudini is a place in South Africa...and I was not yet a light in my parent's eyes at this point .....) The kit is HoHoRetro by Studio Gypsy

and a year later...here I am the little one for my 1st Christmas I too was cute once ;-) The kit is Country Christmas by Studio Gypsy. And if you really read all this talking you may be interested to know I have a freebie on the blog featuring this kit HERE The kit preview is gone, because Lisa moved stores and I have not taken the time to reload all the previews...untidy house keeping, I know...

So go out and grab something special and scrap up a storm this weekend!

Autumn Mist...

...the mere title of the page set conjures up wonderful images and smells! Studio Gypsy released this beauty
"Autumn Mist" a little while back.

and I used it to scrap the chrysanthemums on my deck. What a show these beauties were putting on!

I went ahead and turned the page into a freebie for you. I hope you like it!

I'm in the mood to dig through my stash of treasures and create something FUN....have a great weekend every one!

Father & Son

I think old pictures, even if they are not in good condition, need to be scrapped with dignitty ;-) that sounds really funny, but what I mean is that there is no way to get a better picture now,and seeing as this is the only one we have - it should be treated like a treasure.

That is a very long winded way of saying that i scrap old and rare or unique pictures, regardless of their condition.

Like this one...now isn't this Father & Son picture precious?

I guess one day I may get tired of scrapping old photographs, but right now, I'm really enjoying it!

3 Generations...

I have another picture of these 3 men...plus the next generation youngster. It is really incredible to have pictures of all the generations together!

I used Lisa Hankins' (aka Studio Gypsy) new 'Divine Debris' Kit for this LO. It is wonderfully grungy and can be both soft and feminine and rough/grungy - just right for the guys.

See how beautifully girly this LO by Cynthia is?

I made my LO into a QP for you, now if you have the kit, it would be super easy to girlify it ;-)

You can download it HERE

Have a great weekend!!

Week 16 - 2010

Unless my math is worse than I thought...LOL... week 16 means a minimum of 112 pictures. Funny how different things look when you change it into numbers. And we are in the 17th week out of 52. Somehow a year doesn't sound long if you say "52 weeks"

Anyhow...ignore the rambling - here is my page and the links and credits are HERE
Pictures/previews/links for this page have been removed due to Designers retiring and stores closing

Also don't miss the early iNSD sale at Studio Gypsy : See this DST thread for images and links!

I saw the cutest kit by Kimberly Stewart that is begging me to use it...so I'm off to see what I can do ;-)
Have a great weekend everyone!

Simple Pleasures - Wild Flowers

I love poking around in the forest to see what beauties are laughing in the wind, with nobody by God and the angels to enjoy their splendour....at least untill my camera and I join in for a little while!
Our dainty little wild rose,  The Nootka Rose, is such a beauty. She laughs at the sun from roadsides, fields and hills.

Week 13 - 2010

I did this one in the 'new' format ready for the photobook for this year! You can see I've allowed ample extra paper around the edges for bleeding off the page edges and the spine of the book. I also changed the way I'm doing the dates. As I change the LO's for the new format, I'm changing the dating accordingly. I think this is less cluttery (is that a word?) and it certainly is easier to do.

Lisa, over at Studio Gypsy at ScrapbookGraphics has a new kit in store called "Sunsine"

I used that one for this LO

which is my answer (wonderfully expressed by Randy and Cheryl in their song "Heal Me" sung so beautifully by Cheryl)  to this LO I did a few weeks ago :

Here is a look at Lisa's "Sunshine"

I have a crazy busy week ahead but I so much want to tell you about (and show off!!) Rina Kroes being Designer of the Month at Scrapbook-Elements. Rina has some wonderful stuff on special HERE and many new goodies in her store. Do check it out mean time, will you?

See you asap!
