When I was young, one of our neighbours had this quote on his desk in the study. It made such an impression on me and has stayed with me all these many years. I finally got round to making it into a printable quote to add to my studio.
I used Lonetta's new 'Priceless' Collection for my page. The items in this bundle are so beautiful, and as always, the bits and pieces are available separately in her Digichick store

Just Hopping By...
...to share a fun card!
I've entered this one into the new/current Art Impressions Challenge : Cards with Movement. Details HERE.
Edited to add that this little card won the challenge...excuse me while I do the Happy Hop :-)
I decided to use just one of the girls from the stamp set 'Hop Hop Hop' (isn't it a FUN image?)
After fussy cutting the image I attached it to a strip of clear plastic.
I then attached the image to the card base making sure that it will all still fit into a standard envelope. I kept the rest of the embellishments to a minimum as this will be mailed internationally and I want it to arrive in good condition!
The card base is based on a card made by Dawn Griffith. Details HERE and video HERE
The card is intended for a special person who has had a rough few months and I hope it brings a smile to her face every time she sees it. I specifically chose this design so it can be displayed and enjoyed. The little figure sways and bops easily perched on the clear acetate strip.
Can you say FUN?
Hop on over to the AI blog to see the other entries.

Instead of colouring the whole image I chose to combine colouring with paper piecing.

Gift Box... a Guy Thing
I recently made this gift box for a dear friend who was having a birthday. I had no idea what to give him...but figured chocolates seldom go to waste. But I wanted something 'nice' to put it in. I like to try and make something a man might actually like...
SVG Cuts to the rescue! YAY!
I made the little suitcase from the Summer Holiday collection, using AC cardstock and papers from Prima's 'Script' pack. The stamps are 'Come Away With Me' by Hampton Art, that co-ordinates with the Graphic 45's 'Come Away With Me Collection' (I bought the paper and stamps from Blitsy btw)
Over all I was pretty pleased with the result.

Some embossing details on the decorative panels
I should have made the handle from a double layer of cardstock, and darkened the edges...that would have been better I think.
and stuffed with chocolates.
Yum

Friends Wall Decor
I have found quite a few stamps I like in the Art Impressions collection. Among my most favourites are the 'Friends' themed ones. So when I saw the latest AI Challenge " Lovely Ladies" I just had to play along!
I decided to make a little wall plaque for my craft room to celebrate and remember those lovely crafting lady friends of mine! Crafting with friends is always fun and always ends up in laughing lots, so that the stamp and the sentiment are perfect for this.
I coloured the image with Inktense pencils and water colours and fixed it to a cardboard panel covered with decor paper that I also used to cover some storage boxes in my craft room.
Here it is in place on the wall just above my crafting table under the window.
See the second image in the foreground? I coloured 2 images as I could not decide which colour scheme I liked most for the craft room.
Here is the other one, which I will most likely make up into a card...
I really enjoyed making this and am already thinking of which stamp to use next! I like to have things around me that make me smile, especially when I'm working.

Sheila Scarf Box
A little gift box to contain a crocheted scarf for a friend
I used the 'Summer Holiday' Kit from SVG Cuts
I stamped the chipboard before assembling the box. The trim was embossed for interest and lightly inked on the edges.
Flowers and a few sprigs finished off the top. The cut files are from Lettering Delights.
I added sequins and beads to the flower centers.
And the scarf peeping out from inside the gift box.
I used the train truck cut files from 'Summer Holiday' by SVG Cuts
And remember the latest SVG Cuts set Spring Blossoms is still available free with purchase.

3D Snowflake - Prince Charming
The 4th flake from Dimensional Snowflakes
Prince Charming - this one worked up really quickly!
They are looking so pretty sitting in a jar on my shelf. I hope I can keep up with my plan to do one of these a month for the whole year!

Exploring Our Countryside
These pictures were taken back in the 90's. This is the first of a 3 page spread. There are just too many nice pictures to leave any out. And the 'boys' were still little, and how do you not scrapbook those 'little boy' pictures?
Exploring Englishman River - and more accurately for this page, Englishman River Falls.

I used Cathy Krenek's new 'Go Camping Bundle' for this page and will be using it for the rest of the pages too I think. I really like how well it suits the pictures!
I'm hoping to get the rest of these pages done this week, but I also want to do the yearbook pages for April (this year). Sounds like I need an audio book and some serious scrapping time! YAY!

Year Of Projects - April
Well I was doing the weekly posting for YOP, but that just seemed unnecessarily tedious to me, so I decided, after 3 months, to change over to a once-a-month update. Besides, some days/weeks I don't get much done anyway LOL
And then this month was busy with other important family 'things'. I hope May will be 'better'
During the month of April I...
Started adding a single 'log' of light around the blocks on the afghan. By April 10th I had run out of yarn (with 7 blocks done)
I finally got more yarn (after finding empty shelves on one occasion! Ugh.) But by the end of April I had gotten this far with those lighter strips. 4 more blocks need a single light coloured 'log' each still, then I can join them and start on the border. Slightly blurry picture...hmmmm.
and while there was tennis to watch (Miami Open) I knitted a scarf from an 'odd' ball of yarn I had hanging around. This will make a fine gift I think! This is the 'Quilted Lattice Ascot' This knits up super quick though...not nearly enough for the tennis LOL
The light washed this picture out a bit, but I do like the details of the stitches!
I also finally boxed up the gift scarf:
And did make the 3D Snowflake for the month Prince Charming
I wonder why I suddenly have blurry pictures? I'm not happy about that!
So let me recap my list :
My Year Of Projects To Do list
My list is very flexible I’m ‘afraid’ I’m forever changing my mind mid-stride ;)
- I would like to finish the afghan started early in December (that's the one featured above) Coming along with 12 blocks done. 12-15 for the final count with some borders also to be added. This will take while yet, as I need more yarn to make more blocks. I got more yarn and the afghan is 'growing' once more.
- I want to knit 2 pairs of socks -yarn bought for first pair, just need to decide on pattern. Decided on the pattern, was waiting for the new reading glasses. These finally arrived yesterday, so maybe I can finally make a start on these!
- At least 3 pairs of flip-top mittens (2 will be gifts) I changed this to 2 pairs of mittens and one scarf (which is crocheted and I have finished it - needs to be blocked), Yarn bought for the first pair of flip tops (yay)
- Completed 4 pairs of fingerless mittens (all test knits)
- Set of 12 3D snowflakes, from the book 'Dimensional Snowflakes' Making them 1 per month at least. (4 done)
- Smile project (mystery ;-) ) hoping the new pattern will work! - haven't tried the new pattern yet.
