I Love You

Adorable skunks...what better way to say : 'I Love You' They are so cute and I think the black and white colours allow for really striking graphic images. And of course it pairs beautifully with bright red!

I started with a rather plain front cover...giving no indication of what may be inside...

and upon opening it - a panoramic center! It was a dull day so I turned on the flash for this picture. The other pictures suffered from poor lighting.
So adorable with the little one behind the word 'love' floating away hanging on to a balloon. I did consider adding clouds to the background, but in the end opted for a simple, uncomplicated surface seeing as there was already so much happening.
The large 'love' word was cut using a Silhouette cutter and the rest of the letters I hand cut after using an alpha stencil to trace the letters. Old school scrapbooking style!
The colouring is all coloured pencil.

I mean...just look at this face?!?! Cute just doesn't say it.

And just like that...I'm ready for Valentines...now I can concentrate on getting Christmas stuff done...

I'm submitting my loving skunks to the 'Everything Goes' Challenge over at the Art Impression blog. Come on over and join in! Edited to add : I'm delighted to have won 'Honorable Mention' with this card. Time for a happy dance!

The stamp set I used is called 'Love is in the Air' by Art Impressions

Valentine Kitty

Happy Valentine's for those of you who make this a special day...I thought I would pop this little kitty on hubby's desk this morning...
I'm pretty sure it'll give him a smile to start the day with.

I'm also entering it into the TiddlyInks Love Challenge #198 for February

(edited to add - this one 'won' the challenge...which means several more fun images in my 'collection' YAY!)

I mean who can resist a face like this?

I used an image from 'Set of Kittys' by TiddlyInks - aren't they just adorable?

I opted for a basic stand-up card for easy display on a desk. The colouring was done with colour pencils and the sentiment is from the Penny Black 'Every Which Way' transparent stamp set.

Come on over and join the February Challenge!
Have a nice day!

Valentines or Anniversary ?

I think this pretty box card is good for either. As for me, this year I am giving it as an anniversary card. I think it will be appreciated as it expresses our genuine love for the couple!

I do so like the effect of the layers in these box cards. Using a selection of coordinating papers from the Reflections "Sugar Plum" Collection adds to fun of visual exploration of the card.

The Box Card is from the "Hearts Aflame" SVG Cuts set (affiliate links)

Mary has a brand new "Spring Time" box set in the store, which is free with purchase until Feb 22, 2016. That box of pansies is calling my name....ugh for the horrible exchange rate at the moment. Grrrrr

Valentines Card

I'm relying on the clean and simple design to pave the way for the sentiment, that I think says it all.

I used a cut file by Designs on Cloud 9 for the front panel on the card. This I sprayed lightly with alcohol inks to set it off just a little from the background.

I cut a same size heart shape as the panel, through the front of the card, and stuck a felt heart inside the card so it will show through the opening.

The sentiment is from AA Milne's 'Winnie The Pooh' Milne had a way of saying things so very well using his characters from these stories. This quote is no exception. I got the Silhouette Cameo to write it for me.

I love you my hubby of 30 years and counting. My life is so much richer because of you.

Hope you have a fun filled Valentines!

Cards - Valentine, Friendship, Birthday....

Really I think these little cards will do well for just about any occasion. Which is why I have not added any sentiments to them yet.

I added a bit of stamping to the background (card front) and sprayed it lightly with alcohol inks. Next I layered a paper doily, before sticking the 'library' pocket down. I had trimmed the pocket with a piece of ribbon beforehand. The stamped kitty image is from Penny Black's, "Every Which Way"

The other card has a background of ink sprays (I really like the soft colour these inks give me!), again with a paper doily on top, under the pocket. This time I also sprayed the pocket. The stamped kitty images were coloured with coloured pencils.

I used the 'Library Pocket' Cut file from Designs on Cloud 9 to cut the pocket and matching (red) tag. I could also include another tag or item into the roomy little pocket.

'Mail Box' Box Card

I'm still having fun with the SVG Cuts 'Heart's Aflame' box cards.

This one was ridiculously quick to cut and put together....and turned out so pretty! I again used papers from the 'Sugar Plum' Paper Pack by Recollections

The box is nicely 'stuffed' with mail on the inside!

Since I used the same paper throughout, my 3 pieces now make a nice little set.

The 2 Box cards are from 'Heart's Aflame' and the pop-up card is from 'Hugs And Kisses'

Have a wonderful week!

Lots of Hearts!

Lots and lots of -conversation- hearts...Valentines Day is coming!

I had fun making this one....

I used Chipboard (the Silhouette brand, which is more like a heavy card stock than chipboard), some patterned paper from the 'Sugar Plum' paper pad by Recollections and a bit of card stock. The smaller red hearts I coloured with a felt tip pen and white chalked the edges. (it looks less splotchy in real life...go figure!)

I like how the box seems to be stuffed full of hearts!

And the 'Only U' heart is the only solid coloured one ;-) designer Mary made her's to be the only blue heart. Very clever!

The cut files used are from SVG Cuts and called 'Hearts Aflame'

Right now you can still get this kit as a free gift with purchase. Go HERE and scroll down to see how!

Post a comment with a link to show me what you made...or better still, post it to the Meisiesdoodles Facebook page.
