Milestone Birthday

90 year young. That sure is a milestone to reach!

So what sort of card do you send a flower lover for her 90th? A box full of flowers of course!

I cut my box for the flower bunches from kraft card stock and stamped the woodgrain on using brown dye ink and a stamp by Heidi Swapp that I picked up from Michaels.

And really once that was assembled all I needed to do was decorate the different inserts and that was done with cut file flowers and punches pieces. I did add a lacy die cut to the front of the box to soften the design and to bring a bit more white in, while repeating the lace detail of the doily on the back panel.

A little organza bow finished of the tag. Besides, who gives flowers without any ribbons or bows, right? I love all the dimension these box cards have.
We added a sentiment and handwritten notes to a panel at the back of the large panel on the card.

Valentines or Anniversary ?

I think this pretty box card is good for either. As for me, this year I am giving it as an anniversary card. I think it will be appreciated as it expresses our genuine love for the couple!

I do so like the effect of the layers in these box cards. Using a selection of coordinating papers from the Reflections "Sugar Plum" Collection adds to fun of visual exploration of the card.

The Box Card is from the "Hearts Aflame" SVG Cuts set (affiliate links)

Mary has a brand new "Spring Time" box set in the store, which is free with purchase until Feb 22, 2016. That box of pansies is calling my name....ugh for the horrible exchange rate at the moment. Grrrrr

New Home Box Card

When I heard relatives were moving, I set the brain to work on a 'congrats on your new home' card. But then I thought I would like to make a card that can be a bit of a decoration for a week or two as well...
The answer to that is a box card and the images just had to come from my Art Impressions 'Try-Fold' stamps. They were perfect for the job. I combined two sets (images below) for my card.

The size of the box was based on what I could get out of an 11" piece of card stock, and I just took it from there.

I sprayed the entire white card base with alcohol inks to break up the stark white. I even cut out the house scene. I liked the splattered sky more than the one I had painted. It is too funny how a little run in the ink makes it look like a bit of smoke is coming out of the chimney.

Altogether I have 6 levels on the box, with 2 inserts.

Naturally it took quite a while to plan, colour, cut and put together, but I really enjoyed making it.

These cute little birds make me smile...they are having such fun!

I hope these folks are very very happy in their new home...and I look forward to visiting them and seeing it for myself! Whoooot!

'Mail Box' Box Card

I'm still having fun with the SVG Cuts 'Heart's Aflame' box cards.

This one was ridiculously quick to cut and put together....and turned out so pretty! I again used papers from the 'Sugar Plum' Paper Pack by Recollections

The box is nicely 'stuffed' with mail on the inside!

Since I used the same paper throughout, my 3 pieces now make a nice little set.

The 2 Box cards are from 'Heart's Aflame' and the pop-up card is from 'Hugs And Kisses'

Lots of Hearts!

Lots and lots of -conversation- hearts...Valentines Day is coming!

I had fun making this one....

I used Chipboard (the Silhouette brand, which is more like a heavy card stock than chipboard), some patterned paper from the 'Sugar Plum' paper pad by Recollections and a bit of card stock. The smaller red hearts I coloured with a felt tip pen and white chalked the edges. (it looks less splotchy in real life...go figure!)

I like how the box seems to be stuffed full of hearts!

And the 'Only U' heart is the only solid coloured one ;-) designer Mary made her's to be the only blue heart. Very clever!

The cut files used are from SVG Cuts and called 'Hearts Aflame'

Right now you can still get this kit as a free gift with purchase. Go HERE and scroll down to see how!

Post a comment with a link to show me what you made...or better still, post it to the Meisiesdoodles Facebook page.

Snowflake Box Cards

It must be winter, considering all the snowflakes around here...

I made these last week - where did the time go that I only get to post this now?!?

I used another cut files from the SVG Cuts ' Christmas Box Cards Set. Scroll down on the Cards Page to see a couple of the other cards included in this set.

Seen front and back. The 'Merry Christmas' stamp is from the Bo Bunny 'Sentiments Stamps' Set. The longer sentiment stamp is no longer available.

I covered some flakes with sparkly embossing powders and to some I added some glitter glue.

The snowflake patterned vellum is from an old book of printed vellum by Paper Pizzaz. I thought it would would add another dimension to the multi layer card.

I really like how the light shines through the vellum, showing off the snowflake.

A variety of sequins in different shades of blue added the final touch.

Sadly I feel like I'm fast running out of time... to do all the things I would like to do. I'm SURE there must be less hours in a day during November and December...
