Puzzle Adventures - April 2021

In between crocheting, and now knitting, for a new grandbaby, making greeting cards and spring cleaning...I've been doing a few puzzles this month.

I started with this very fun one that I traded some time last year and had not yet done. I really enjoyed it. It was not difficult but very interesting.

I did it for the 'Food' Monthly Theme Challenge. The title is 'Donuts' and the brand Jack Pine, with a 1000 piece count.

For the Alphabet Challenge I entered this one for 'E is for Elephant'
What a fun puzzle. I got this from a fellow puzzler here locally. It is called a 'sand' puzzle as all the sand coloured areas on the puzzle have a sanded finish. Small grains are embedded in the ink so that there is the added tactile experience when you assemble it. I liked it and loved the bright colours. It certainly has an African vibe.
'Elephants' by Clementoni at 500 piece count.

'Dolphins Dawn' by MB, also a 500 piece count puzzle.
This one has been on the pile for a few months, waiting for warmer weather.
It was quick to do, and the colours are nicely saturated.

Next one for the Alphabet Challenge was J - is for Jars for which I did this panorama puzzle 'Sweet Shoppe' by Bits & Pieces. It was okay to build, but not my favourite so I traded it as soon as it came off the board...

I'd been waiting for spring to do this 'Spring Birdhouse' beauty by Cobble Hill. Ahhh the quality...so nice! And since it was a new puzzle, that delicious smell. Cobble Hill puzzles have a unique smell that I really like.

And finally for April, this kitten one. Kitchen Capers ...or something to that effect, by Buffalo. It was fun to do, but the quality is not so good. Not the best if you start building with glue in hand to stick delaminating layers back in place. The price reflects that though, so I guess in the end it evens out, but straight after a Cobble Hill it felt pretty awful.

I'm behind posting, so I guess I'd better get on with the post for May! Yikes!

Puzzle Adventures - World Puzzle Days - February 2021

Round up for World Puzzle Days for 2021

I was given this beautiful Cobble Hill for my birthday. Loved every minute of this one!

A few of my favourite details...

A fun Valentine Stamps one from Bits and Pieces

And of course...some fun details!

Love the variety of teacups in this Cobble Hill one. It is a great build!

And wrapping up this month with this chuckle-packed image by Jan Van Haasteren. It is by Jumbo.

This one, like all Van Haasteren puzzles, is full of fun details too...

It was a fun month, and not a bad effort for World Puzzle Days. Now it's time for spring and Spring themed puzzles!

Puzzle Adventures - October 2020

This was a a quick month. Did yours also only have 2 weeks?

At least that is how it felt!

This month I kicked my puzzle adventures off with the Alphabet challenge over at the 'Puzzling Together' Facebook group.

W is for Windows - and this delightful image by Larry Jones for Bits and Pieces. It is currently not available though...I really enjoy his images. So many details and always something to make me smile...

I timed building this to coincide with our Thanksgiving here in Canada, seeing as this looks very much like a turkey to me...YUM!

Next up a Wasgij. Traded locally. We have quite a number of Wasgij fans in our group and the puzzles circulate freely. It is great to access to so many different ones. I enjoy making them!

Finally - P is for Peacocks. Another Bits and Pieces puzzle currently not available.

It was a great build even if I started rather randomly. It is impossible to sort out the edge pieces as many of the interior ones also have straight edges. I do enjoy the random pieces though, and will simply store the edge pieces separately for next time!

Puzzle Adventures - July 2020

Recapping July too. I think we skipped over a few weeks this summer, where did July go?!?

Well some of it - in the evenings anyway- went into puzzling. I do so enjoy a couple of hours in the evening, sitting with a puzzle or some knitting, a colouring book etc watching, or sometimes listening to!, a programme on TV or getting lost in a good audio book...perfect!

This cat puzzle was just too special to resist...Cats and books, now what is not to like in such a combination? There was a few tricky bits but on the whole it was just a nice challenge and looked absolutely beautiful completed. The puzzle is called 'Feline Bookcase' and is currently not in stock at Cobble Hill, but you may find it at a local retailer or on Amazon. It's worth hunting for!

I kept is sitting around a little while so we could all enjoy it, before tucking it away into it's box for a future treat.

Continuing the alphabet challenge with the Puzzling Together group on Facebook.
N is for Notion, National Parks, Native American. I have had this lovely Ravensburger since last year, so it was a good time for doing it. It was OK, did not enjoy it quite as much as I had expected, but will do it at least once more before trading.

For O - Olympic Sports, Ornaments and Occupations, I went for Christmas in July with this delightful Bits & Pieces shaped puzzle, featuring art work by Larry Jones.

The
Monthly Jigsaw Puzzling Themes Facebook group for had vacation as a theme ' If I were going on vacation/ on a trip/ going camping... I would.........?' Well I would go to the ocean, beach, so enjoy the sea air, sand between my toes and look at pretty shells. So this was my puzzle choice.
I had issues with getting the colour right on this picture...

This is a lot more accurate as far as colour goes..nice little build even if nothing special...

And then for just the fun of it I enjoyed every minute of this colourful entirely FUN little puzzle
A quick fix build...and a sure keeper!

And that was the only puzzling that happened in July. It was a good 'adventure'!

Puzzle Adventures - June 2020

Finally time to catch up on the June puzzles!

It was a much slower month as there are other things that take time, especially this time of the year. Suffice to say the vegetable garden is looking good...

I did this wintery themed puzzle for a challenge over on the Puzzling Together group on Facebook.
This one was for 'Olympic Sports'

I've had this for a few years and have done it a few times...the Christmas gift from a friend that I get to enjoy for decades!

I do enjoy all the little details in the Dowdle puzzles. He has his technique down pat and it works well for jigsaws!

And of course because we were in summer - I was only too happy to do the next puzzle in the 'Country Diary' series by Cobble Hill. This was another delightful puzzle. A little easier to do than the Spring one, because I now had a 'method' of going about it.

Thoroughly enjoyed all the little details in this one... and the beautiful inspiring art work

Next up was the start of the new alphabet challenge in the Puzzling Together Facebook group.
B for beach, boats or bears.

I went searching for this oldie from back in the 70's for 'Boats'. I've done this sooo many times (and still do not enjoy that sky!?! there is something about a piece of mostly solid blue sky that just bugs me, even if it is this small!)

The box has seen better days, but it is nice that we still have all the pieces

And finally something for 'Beach' this newbie to me that I bought last summer. Loved every minute of this beauty from Bits and Pieces, 'Down by The Sea' It is definitely on my favourites list!

Just look at all that lovely colour!

And so...on to July! June was hectic...hope yours was good!
