Snowmen Snuggle

Somehow a snuggle from a snowman just doesn't sound like the best idea, does it?

Fortunately these little fellas really are very cozy as they snuggle up to a colourful pair of mittens!

I used the 'Build A Snowman' stamp set by Stampendous. The sentiment is from the 'Happy Messages' set also by Stampendous. Both sets were purchased at my local Michaels store

The papers are from the Mosaic memories Paper Pad by Recollections which I picked up at my local Michaels. I paper pieced the hats and scarves and added puffy dimensional fabric paint by 'Tulip' A bit of glitter glue and a few sequins finished it all off.

Double sided tape lifts the sentiment so the twisted easel card stays propped up nicely.

I'm sorry to see them go...but they need to travel with the mittens to carry a big hug to my friend!

That is a little cryptic, but really that is just what it is. 10 from 1. 10 cards from one sheet of paper and 5 sheets of card stock.

I saw the idea here , on Sweet Bio Designs You Tube Channel and found the measurements on her blog here.

I've never done anything like this, but decided to give it a try as I really liked this one sheet of paper from the Recollections Mosaic Memories pad.

It was very quick to cut and put together. I was determined not to over think the process. As a result there was a card or two that I'm not too pleased with, but overall, it was a good experiment. I sent a pack of 5 of these off to a friend as a little gift and another one has already become a birthday card. I will definitely be doing this again in the future!

I used sentiments from the Stampendous 'Happy Messages' stamp set.

Among all the florals, this is the only critter and had to have center stage ...

Family Hike

Memories! My hair was all brown (gasp!) and look how little the boys were...wow..those were the days (1998)

Autumn Decor - Little Scene

I certainly have an autumn feel! Difficult to miss when the days are much cooler and the rain falls softly while a mist rises in the valley....

It is time to store summer decor and change to gold, yellow, oranges and warm reds...aahhhhh.

Every change of season I feel like I'm heading into my favourite! I like them all!

When the new challenge was posted at Art Impressions and it called for 'Cut Your Cards' I decided to indeed 'cut the (try-fold) card' and turn it into a small scene to hang on the wall.

I stamped each of the images onto a piece of cardstock and coloured it with water colour in bright fall colours.

Next I coloured a piece of cardstock with spray alcohol inks, cut a window for the scene and scored the fold lines to make a shallow shadow box for the stamped pieces to fit in and on to.

I inked lightly around the oval cutout

Next I adhered the cottage scene to the back of the box, while the boat scene was attached to a strip of cardstock to hold it suspended between the background and the front of the box.

Once the box was glued closed, all I had to do was add the third scene with the little fawn onto the front of the box and add a selection of punched leaves in fall colours as a finishing touch. At least these leaves will not need to be raked!

I like the depth created by the volume inside the little shadowbox.

Due to the dull grey (misty) day we had, I had to make do with artificial light for my pictures this time round...but I think it still looks warm and all autumny!

It Must Be Autumn....

When I start reaching for the knitting...it must be getting cooler! Now I will gladly knit all year round, only this past summer was so hot and dry (nope not complaining, just saying ;-) ) that knitting was not on my schedule at all...

But the moment the weather changed and the air turned crisp I broke out the needles. I've done 2 projects, but the other was a test knit, so I'll post that as soon as the pattern goes live.

Here is the first project : finger less mittens for a friend's birthday. I used the same pattern I used for these beauties HERE. It was a bit of a hum and aaaahhh to decide which pattern to use, but in the end this one got the most votes.

I'm so pleased with the result. I think they are beautiful and hope my friend likes them too! I used Red Heart 'Unforgettable' in the Stained Glass colourway. I might try and get another pair out of the same ball of yarn. Even if I have to leave off a few rows at the end!

Autumn Fun

This feels like a lifetime ago, but it really isn't all that long, is it? Of course those little boys are now men, that 'amazing' vehicle definitely no longer with us...and I have a lot more grey hair!

But the memories are fresh. This was such a nice place to hang out, play in the water, run, kick a ball and just explore...

Feeling A Little Lost?

this card is for the Art Impressions 'Southern Style' themed challenge. 

It took me a while to figure out what I an do since I don't have any stamps suited to the theme...then I remembered  golfer Gordon...and the gears started turning in my head...and I know this isn't anything like 'southern style' (I mean just how likely am I to really know what that is, right?!?!?!) But I thought I'd share it anyways...it may just make someone smile and that's good enough for me!

I mean poor Gordon really got himself into a (very dry!) pickle this time. Talk about a sandy pit...

This is what I have on the inside...

but I really wished I had this  buzzard,  a few of those on the inside would have been PERFECT, don't you think?

Ah yes, I'm sure I need to get on with some chores around here now...and leave Gordon to fend for himself, poor fella.

Harvest Time!

Well it sure has been an interesting adventure : starting a vegetable garden this year. Fortunately for us, the weather was perfect : hat and dry...and summer lasted a long time. Still, fall has fallen rather suddenly and now we can just hope that the squashes and the rest of the tomatoes will have enough heat & sun to still ripen. Yikes!

Still, it has been a good practice run and next year we can start those seedling early in the greenhouse. Yeah!
